FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your products safe for sensitive skin, eczema, or psoriasis?

Yes, that's actually why most of our customers find us. Everything is paraben free, phthalate free, and made in small batches with organic ingredients. If you have a specific condition you're managing, feel free to email us before you order and we're happy to talk through what might work best.

Are your products vegan and cruelty free?

Yes, all of it.

Is anything gluten free?

Yes, our shea butters, solid perfumes, lip balm, and soaps are all gluten free.

I'm allergic to coconut, what should I avoid?

Coconut oil shows up in most of our soap bases, so double check the ingredient list on any soap before ordering. Our shea butters and solid perfumes are a safer starting point if coconut is an issue for you, but always check the specific scent's ingredient list since it can vary.

Can I use your products while pregnant?

Many of our customers do, especially the shea butters for stretch marks, but we're not doctors, so please run it by yours first if you have any concerns.

Why does my soap look slightly different from the picture?

Because it's actually handmade, not mass produced. Shape, size, and color can vary a little batch to batch, that's the tradeoff for something made by hand instead of a machine.

How long do your products last once opened?

Most of our products are best used within about a year of purchase for peak freshness, since we don't use harsh preservatives.

Do you ship outside Hawaii or the US?

We ship throughout the US. Reach out if you're hoping to order internationally and we'll see what we can do.

Can I request a custom scent or color?

Often, yes. Email us at HonoluluSoapCo@gmail.com and we'll let you know what's possible.

What's the difference between the shea butter sizes?

The 2 oz is a great travel or trial size, the 4 oz is our most popular everyday size, and the 3 pack of 1 oz jars is perfect if you want to try a few scents or keep one in your bag, one at your desk, and one by the sink.

Can I put a loofah soap in a sisal bag?

We wouldn't recommend it. The loofah is already built into the soap to do the exfoliating work, so pairing it with a sisal bag is a bit of overkill and can wear down both faster than they should last. Save the sisal bag for your non-loofah bars.

Do you offer wholesale?

We do, primarily for hotels and hospitality partners. Email us to start that conversation.

How do I use the shea butter for best results?

Apply to slightly damp skin. Dab a small amount into your palm, wet your hands, then rub together before massaging in, this helps it spread farther and absorb more easily.
